This is a photo of one of my terra cotta oil lamps from Israel.  These lamps were very prevalent throughout Israel and were similar to our having G.E. light bulbs in our homes today.  The oil lamp is part of the symbolism Christ used in the Parable of the Ten Virgins.

Refer to the Last Days Parables section for a research paper, Judaic Symbolism in the Parable of the Ten Virgins.  This paper examines the marriage customs during the time of Christ and the significant understanding we can gain from understanding the "manner of the Jews."
